How to choose your LED bulb?

LED bulbs

LED Light Bulbs With the ban of incandescent bulbs, LED bulbs are more and more appreciated. The range of LED lamps, however, are very large and it is difficult to navigate! We will give you in this article our advice to choose your LED

What nerve?

If you have a screw base, you have the choice between the base E14 (diameter 14mm) or E27 (diameter 27mm). These lamps are powered by 230V, that is to say, they are installed directly on the sector.
If you have a base with 2 pins, choose the GU10 in 230V power supply, or the GU5.3 or G4 in very low voltage (12V). If you have a bayonet lamp, choose the B22.

What power?

The power of the indicated LEDs is expressed in the number of watts consumed, followed by the halogen equivalence, so that the luminous rendering can be compared. For example, a LED of 7-35W means that it will consume 7W but will replace a halogen of 35W for the same quality of lighting. The electricity consumption is divided by 5 for the same light output.

What color temperature?

Unlike halogen lamps, LED bulbs offer wider choices of lighting design thanks to their different colors. For example, you can choose:
·         2700K: Warm light
·         3000K: White and warm light
·         4000K: White, neutral light

At home, it will be more pleasant to have 2700K lamps to create a warm atmosphere in the living rooms or bedrooms. In the bathrooms, a whiter light will be appreciated in 3000K. 4000K lamps are not recommended. For businesses, it all depends on your type of business and the products you want to showcase. As an indication, most halogen lamps have a color temperature between 2700K and 3000K.

What angle of radiation for LED spots?

Spotlight The LED spotlights, such as halogen spotlights, allow redirect light in a specific direction by the reflector, on a more or less large bright spot. So you can choose a radiation angle of 25 degrees or 40 degrees depending on your needs.

The LED lamps 25 degrees will be ideal to create accent lighting and draw the eye to objects, for example in shops or in home windows, to illuminate paintings, etc. They will also be adapted to illuminate narrow rooms, such as corridors.

Conversely, the 40-degree versions will illuminate a more diffused room, such as in living rooms or bedrooms. In the shops, they will be useful to create general lighting.
